Faith Harvest Church began in August of 1995 when Mark and Maggie Hillis, along with their three children Jimmy, Jeffery, and Adam, left their home and family in Georgia to follow the call of God and move to Arizona. Faith Harvest was soon birthed in the living room of their new home in Mesa, with services every Sunday morning. The new church met in their home for about a year before meeting in a hotel conference room in downtown Mesa. As the congregation continued to grow, however, the need for a building became evident and after much prayer the Lord opened the door for them to move into a small building on South Macdonald Street. The church met in this location for about six years. During those years on Macdonald Street the church prayed for the Lord to open the door and make a way for them to move into the old Nile Theater on Main Street.
The Lord truly moved in a mighty way and the desire became a reality. The historic Nile Theater has quite a history, having been built in 1920 as a vaudeville theater. In the fifties it was altered to house a clothing store; in more recent years it housed an infamous teen night club, and since January 2003 it has housed the people of God. Though in need of much repair, there was a common vision and the congregation poured much time and energy into bringing the building to a functional level, to be used as a place of worship and training. “The Nile” now houses a Christian bookstore and church office in the front retail area, a sanctuary for 300 in the interior, and a nursery and kid’s church area in the lower level.
The building, however, is not the focus of the ministry at Faith Harvest. Faith Harvest is a place where Jesus Christ is honored and where lives are being transformed. From the streets of Mesa to our mission work in the Middle East and elsewhere, Faith Harvest is ministering the love of God expressed in Christ Jesus. You are invited to witness the ongoing miracle of God’s love, power and provision in the midst of a group of people who dare to take Him at His Word.
